Muay Thai Techniques

Other day I came across a very interesting discussion on Muay Thai techniques in the site www.muaythai.cc. It says that the Muay Thai techniques or Mae Mai Muay Thai involve the use of the entire human body. That means if you want to learn Muay Thai, you have to learn using everything including fists, elbows, shins, feet and knees. Just imagine!

It is for this reason that Muay Thai is called “The Science of Eight Limbs”. In act sometimes it is also referred to as “The Science of Nine Limbs”. Do you know why? Because Muay Thai fights also include the use of the head. Yes, I am taking about the literal use of the head.

When you will visit a Muay Thai training camp, you will find that they have divided the basic Muay Thai techniques into the punch techniques, elbow techniques, kicking techniques and knee techniques.

One key Muay Thai technique is the clinch or grappling, used extensively in Muay Thai fights. You will have to apply this technique by holding your opponent either around the neck and head or around the body. The popular name for neck hold is Thai clinch.

A common clinching technique in muay thai fight is to tap the head downward before executing a throw. There is another easy technique for you to use when attacked by a knee. You can throw the opponent to his left in case he is using a knee from the right. In this way you can set off his balance. It will either send your opponent to the canvas, or will give you the time to use your own knee technique.

A particular information mentioned in the site www.muaythai.cc gives an idea about the effectiveness of Muay Thai techniques. The site says that these techniques are also used in Mixed Martial Arts (MMA). Apart from Muay Thai fights, you will find Muay Thai techniques being abundantly used in MMA fights like PRIDE Fighting Championships and Ultimate Fighting Championship.

So what is your decision now? Are you game to learn this spectacular martial art? Great! Find out a good Muay Thai kick boxing gym, and enroll yourself. And give your best. Tomorrow you might join the league of the eminent Muay Thai fighters like Ramon Dekkers, Sinbi Taewoong, Buakaw Por. Pramuk, etc.
